Pediatric Specialty Care in St. Louis

I think some of the things that people don't know about Shriners Children's is that we treat all conditions that are orthopedic in nature from the routine to the very rare. And oftentimes I think when people think of Shriners Children's, they think about the rare and the complex. But we're really here to serve any patient who has an orthopedic condition that needs our help.

We have experts in upper extremity sports, hip, neuromuscular problems, limb deformity and lengthening. We have multiple children, hundreds, thousands of children here that share multiple physicians and providers at our unit because we each contribute a piece of the puzzle for them.

Shriners just has an impeccable tradition and it's about kids. And so if you have a kid with a challenge, it seems to make sense you would end up at a children's hospital that's specific to what they do so well.

If it's any orthopedics, I have friends, I have soccer players that have any injury. Oh, you come to us. We are the specialists in every area, not just the medical, the nursing, the radiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy. We have the best of the best. And I will not bring my kids if it's not the best for them.

When a parent brings their child here, they see an atmosphere where the medical staff here wants to help their child without any regard to what it might cost, whether they have insurance or not. None of that matters to us. All that matters to our medical staff is giving the best care possible to those kids and getting them treated.

I believe that Shriners is the place to take your child no matter what their needs are because of the quality of care that we receive every single time we step inside the building. They are constantly making our child laugh and forgetting why he's even there for care to treat our child's condition. He's made fabulous growth and we really just owe that all to the doctors and the nurses that make us feel so comfortable every time we walk in.

If you knew how many staff that work here have had their own kids taken care of here. I've had my daughter. She had her surgery here. I had my son. He got some prosthetic devices. And so St. Louis has a lot of children's hospitals and a lot of outstanding. But again, the care here and the one-on-one and just it's amazing.

When it comes to getting your child the best care there is no distance too far to make that happen. We live about six hours away, so we've made that 12 hour round trip 15 times and every time we have a trip to St. Louis, it's exciting because he wants to see his friends here, his family here. It is a family environment. It is worth every mile to get the best care to set your child up for success.

I would simply say to any family who was like us, confused, a little was a bit scared, uneducated of the fact of where to go, I would say Shriners is the place to go. They have the ability to help the children without having the families distressed about where they would get the money to do that. So simply that.
