Amenities and Services for Parents and Visitors

Families Come First at Shriners Hospitals for Children Canada

Along with exceptional care for your child, we'll take good care of you, too. Be sure to take advantage of our amenities and services.

Play Areas

Patients are scheduled for play as part of their daily routine. Structured and unstructured activities take place in the hospital each day. Therapeutic recreation and child life specialists supervise activities that include everything from cards and video games to special performances, such as magic shows. The therapeutic play area is equipped with toys, board games, video games and puzzles for a variety of ages and developmental stages. Volunteers and staff from our child life department facilitate daily activities.

Rest Area for Parents of Hospitalized Children

The healing garden is located on the fourth floor next to the family room. It is a quiet place for family members to relax.

Internet Access/Computer Use

Wi-Fi access is available using our PFA network. Your nurse or any hospital staff member can help you if you have trouble finding the network or logging in. A computer is available in the family room on the fourth floor.

Interpreter Services

Shriners Hospitals for Children Canada offers interpreter services for you and your child. It is vital that you have accurate information about your child’s care. Stratus is a video remote interpreting language service, that we have implemented here at Shriners Hospitals for Children Canada to enhance our patient experience. This service is available to us live at any moment through an iPad, where we can call an interpreter by audio or video and be connected with someone within seconds. Interpreters are available around the clock, are medically qualified and have an average connection time of 30 seconds. To learn more about Stratus, watch the video below:

To get to the public parking area, guests must drive past all the hospitals, turn left onto the contour road and immediately turn left again into underground parking. The moment you are going down the ramp towards the parking, you must look up to see the signage, take a ticket at the wicket and follow the signage for Shriners Hospitals for Children Canada all the way to P3A 100, where you will find the parking entrance directly into level SS2 of the hospital.

Families must bring their parking ticket to the front desk for validation. Once in the hospital through the SS2 doors, please take the elevators that you will find in the museum up to RC. Parking in the complex is free for 2 hours. If your visit is under 2 hours, you do not need to exchange your ticket.

Important: the families of children treated at Shriners Hospitals for Children Canada who wish to take advantage of the free parking must park in the underground parking in the P3A – 100 area. Free parking does not apply to the express parking outdoors.
