Craig McGhee is Shriners Children’s midwest market administrator. His role is Chicago -based with additional oversight of the St. Louis, Twin Cities and Ohio locations in the market. As the market administrator, he aligns strategic goals of the market with the overall mission of Shriners Children’s to provide outstanding clinical care, research and medical education. He brings values-based leadership to each facility by providing direction, advice and oversight in the areas of hospital regulations and bylaws, hospital operations, clinical care, planning and business development, and regulatory compliance.
Prior to rejoining Shriners Children’s, Mr. McGhee was a leader at Akron Children’s Hospital from 2009-2022 where he served in varying roles including director, vice president, and finally, chief ambulatory officer. Prior to joining Akron Children’s in 2009, Craig previously worked within the Shriners Children’s healthcare system as a physical therapist and held leadership roles at Shriners Children’s locations in Tampa, Florida; and Erie, Pennsylvania.
McGhee holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Kansas State University, a master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Saint Augustine for Health Science, and a master’s degree in health administration from the University of South Florida. He is board certified in health care management, fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). He is currently an elected regent of ACHE.
