James, Shriners Children’s Patient: Hi, I'm James. I come to Shriner's Children's to help with my brittle bone disease, also known as osteogenesis imperfecta.

Cassie, James’ Mom: I was 38 weeks along in my pregnancy and my doctor was like, "You're in labor, so you need to go to the hospital." All of our family was there. The nurse comes in and she heard a crunching in his arm. He had three fractures in his right arm and many different fractures in different stages of healing throughout his whole body.

Jake, James’ Dad: It was terrifying, especially since we didn't have any answers.

Cassie: But then we found Shriners.

Jake: The moment we got here, I know we were still terrified, but it really calmed a lot of our fears.

James: I've had over 60 fractures. It hurts a lot. I have a lot of pain and I'm assuming I'll have a lot more, but there's no reason to be scared because this place really makes you better.

Cassie: You know, when he was born, we didn't know if he would ever walk. So, just to see how far he's come in such a short amount of time, I can't even put that into words. We have Dr. Smith and Shriners to thank for that.
