Sara M. Higginson, MD

Sara Higginson, M.D., is proud to lead the team at Shriners Children's Ohio. She is the former director of the CRMC Leon S. Peters Burn Center at the University of California San Francisco - Fresno. There she worked to ensure an optimal transition, and the continued development and growth of the burn center. Sara has honed her leadership experience from her time in the military and while growing her former program. Most of her time and energy was spent at work, where she was heavily invested in creating an optimal practice focused on patients and positive outcomes. She is passionate about aftercare, continuous care and follow-up with her patients to improve their quality of life. In addition, she is determined to ensure her nurses are well cared for and valued. Sara values research, grants, continuous improvement and forward momentum in the areas of burn and trauma.
