Lawrence C. Vogel, M.D., is an internationally recognized expert in pediatric spinal cord injury. He is the chief of pediatrics/medical director of the spinal cord injury program emeritus.

Dr. Vogel received an undergraduate degree in biology from Northwestern University and earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at Michael Reese Hospital and a pediatric fellowship at University of Chicago Medical Center.

Areas of special interest to Dr. Vogel include pediatric spinal cord injury, transition to adulthood, and infectious disease.

Dr. Vogel is a professor of pediatrics at Rush University School of Medicine in Chicago and chairman of the steering committee of the Consortium for Spinal Cord Medicine. He serves as a council member for the International Spinal Cord Society and associate editor of Topics in Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation. Notably, Dr. Vogel is also past president of the American Spinal Injury Association, past president of the American Paraplegia Society and past president of the Chicago Pediatric Society.
