Visiting a Patient

Visiting a Shriners Children's Patient During Their Stay

At Shriners Children's the health and safety of our patients, families and staff is our top priority. We know that it is important for your family and friends to check in on your child during their treatment, so taking precautions to protect the overall wellness of others in the hospital is important to keep in mind during these visits.

Visiting hours are different for each location, so please check with the hospital where the child you plan to visit is staying, to confirm when you are permitted to visit them. In some cases, we need to limit visiting hours to parents and guardians only. Your child's care manager can let you know if this is something that applies during your child's stay.

If you are planning to visit a patient at Shriners Children's and you are experiencing symptoms of any illness, we ask that you limit your visitation, or ideally wait to see the child until you are well.

Visitor Guidelines

For anyone coming to a Shriners Children's to visit a patient, the following will apply:

  • You must present a valid picture ID
  • Guests require a visitor badge at all times
  • Children must be accompanied by adults at all times
  • Please abide by the Policies & Safety guidelines
  • Do not visit a patient if you are ill
  • Respect the space of other patients at the hospital by keeping noise to a minimum

We recognize that family and friends play a vital role in the health and well-being of your child, so if you have any individualized care or accommodation requests for visitors, please contact your care manager at your Shriners Children's location.

Visiting Hours

Each location has its own set of visiting hours. If you are not the parent or guardian who is authorized to stay with the child during overnight stays, then you will only be allowed to visit during the times that apply to your location.

Our hospitals may also have quiet hours to offer families, patients and our staff downtime. During these times, we ask that everyone in the hospital keeps noise levels to an absolute minimum.

Each hospital offers amenities and spaces for friends and family to step away during visiting or quiet hours as needed.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We are taking extra precautions to protect the safety of our patients, families and staff at this time. Please take a moment to review our Coronavirus (COVID-19) policies prior to visiting a patient at Shriners Children's.
