During her time in the military, Tina Palmieri, M.D., served as the lead of a critical care transport team that deployed to Operation Joint Guard in Bosnia. She chose burn surgery after meeting Geraldine, a woman who sustained a massive burn injury. Not only did she survive that injury, but she went on to become a counselor for others.
