Cherubism is a rare genetic disorder treated by craniofacial specialists at Shriners Children’s. Starting in early childhood, bones of the lower jar are replaced with cyst-like tissue growths that make the cheeks look round and swollen.

Babies born with Pierre Robin sequence have a small lower jaw and tongue set so far back it affects breathing. Usually also have cleft palate. Should be evaluated soon after birth by craniofacial team.
