Mark Runge, D.D.S., is a consulting orthodontist with the craniofacial, cleft lip and palate, and plastic surgery team at Shriners Children's Chicago. He joined the cleft palate team at the Chicago hospital in April 2016. Dr. Runge helps manage a variety of pediatric and adolescent cases that require pre-surgical orthodontics to improve the tooth and jaw relationships in preparation for reconstructive jaw surgery. He is also in private practice in suburban Chicago.
Dr. Runge has always found the work with patients who have congenital or acquired facial differences to be of special interest. As an orthodontist on the team, he works closely with the plastic surgeons to prepare for reconstructive procedures. The patients also benefit from other specialty care including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, ENT and audiology, speech therapy, genetic counseling, psychology and social work.
