Nancy Dunbar, M.D., has worked as a consulting pediatric endocrinologist and metabolic bone disease specialist at Shriners Children's Springfield since 2008 when she completed her fellowship at Yale University, under Dr. Tom Carpenter, with a focus on pediatric bone disease. Her first five years after fellowship were spent at Baystate Medical Center where she was an attending and also responsible for the monthly metabolic bone clinic at Shriners Children's. She joined CT Children's in January 2013 as a pediatric endocrinologist and metabolic bone disease specialist. She teaches students, residents and fellows about general endocrinology and specifically about metabolic bone disease. Her special interests are hypophosphatemic rickets, osteogenesis imperfecta and rare bone disease.

Dr. Dunbar grew up in the Finger Lakes region of New York state in the tiny hamlet of Honeoye. She now lives in West Hartford, Connecticut with her husband and three children, ages 9-19. They just expanded their family to include an Australian labradoodle named Ellie. Dr. Dunbar enjoys running and biking and used to compete in triathlons, culminating in the Lake Placid Ironman. Now she pursues exercise for personal enjoyment and to keep up with her kids. Her secret ambition is to become a wilderness survival expert - a goal that is so far out of reach she finds it laughable.
