Sydney Messlein is a board-certified physician assistant in the department of orthopedics at Shriners Children’s Texas. She is involved in all aspects of treatment from initial visits and follow-up appointments, first assisting in surgery, and caring for post-operative patients.
Originally from Illinois, Sydney moved to Galveston in 2014. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology at Texas A&M University at Galveston in 2017. She fell in love with the island and its community. She then temporarily moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where she received her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies in 2021. After graduating, she worked in orthopedic urgent care, treating all ages, in the Dallas-Forth Worth metroplex. Ready to return to Galveston, she started working at Shriners Children's Texas in early 2022.
In her free time, she enjoys creating art, traveling to national parks and spending time with her family. Sydney and her husband recently welcomed a daughter into the world in October 2023. She also has two rescue dogs, Dallas (Australian shepherd mix) and Cooper (golden retriever), that complete her family.
