Craig M. McDonald, MD

Craig McDonald, M.D., is medical director of the spina bifida program at Shriners Children's Northern California. He is also a professor of clinical physical medicine and rehabilitation and professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of California Davis School of Medicine. A member of the Spinal Cord Injury Advisory Group for Shriners Children's Northern California, Dr. McDonald is board certified in both physical medicine and rehabilitation and pediatric rehabilitation medicine.

Dr. McDonald is also director of the NIDRR Rehabilitation Research and Training Center in Neuromuscular Disease at the University of California Davis School of Medicine. Dr. McDonald's professional affiliations include the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, the Association of Academic Physiatrists and the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

He provides team-based multidisciplinary care for patients with complex health challenges due to neuromuscular diseases throughout their lifespan .

His mission is to lead in collaborative, coordinated care and discovery of innovative therapeutics to improve health, function and quality of life. Dr. McDonald's overall, long-term vision is to provide hope for a healthier, more functional world through compassionate care and bold innovation.
