Michael Erickson, D.O., is a board-certified trauma, burn and surgical critical care surgeon at Shriners Children's Texas and the University of Texas Medical Branch. He specializes in the care of critically injured and burned children, with clinical interests in complex burn reconstruction, pediatric critical care, wound healing and multidisciplinary trauma management. Dr. Erickson earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree and completed advanced training in trauma surgery, burn surgery and surgical critical care. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a fellow of the American Burn Association.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Erickson is deeply involved in medical education, mentorship and research. He serves as an educator for medical students, residents and fellows, and is actively engaged in research focused on pediatric burn outcomes, transfusion strategies, wound healing, critical care innovation and trauma systems improvement. His work has been presented nationally and contributes to advancing the care of pediatric burn patients. Dr. Erickson is committed to providing compassionate, family-centered care and believes in treating every child with the same dedication and advocacy he would want for his own family.
