Charles M. Berry, APRN

Charles "Mats" Berry, MSN, CPNP, is a board-certified nurse practitioner with extensive experience in pediatric acute burn care, as well as pediatric emergency and critical care. Mats earned his Bachelor of Science in nursing from Salem State College in 2010. He went on to attend Boston College's Connell School of Nursing, earning a Master of Science in nursing in the pediatric nurse practitioner program in 2017. Mats started his career at Shriners Children's Boston as a registered nurse on the inpatient unit in 2011, leaving in 2014 to pursue his master's degree. He returned to Shriners Children's Boston in 2022 as a full-time nurse practitioner in the outpatient clinic.

Mats also works at Salem Hospital as a pediatric emergency department nurse practitioner. Other organizations Mats worked at include Boston Medical Center, Mass General Hospital for Children at Salem Hospital, and Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. He held a clinical instructor role at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professionals, instructing nursing students. Mats enjoys working in the outpatient clinic, using a team-based approach to provide the best care possible for patients.

Mats has served as a preceptor for local nurse practitioner programs as well as for new staff nurse practitioners at Shriners Children's Boston. Mats was drawn to Shriners Children's Boston because of the organization's mission and commitment to caring for children from all over the world in need of specialized burn care. Mats enjoys serving local – often underserved – communities through his work at Shriners Children’s Boston.
