Ju Anne and Her Story Towards Scoliosis Recovery

Ju Anne has been a patient at the Mexico Shriners Hospital since she was 2 years old.

When she was only 2 months old, while in intensive care at La Raza hospital, her mother noticed something strange about Ju Anne's back. “I noticed that, when she breathed, a lump would appear on her back, but I was told it was normal,” she said. However, her mother's instinct told her that something was wrong.

After that, she underwent some tests, and it was found that Ju Anne did indeed have a back injury. By that time, the little patient was already 1. At that time, her family went to CRIT Teleton for treatment, with the goal that she would be able to walk. There, the family was advised to seek treatment at the Mexico Shriners Hospital.

Ju Anne and her family arrived at the hospital to start treatment when she was 2. When they arrived, the doctors began brace therapy. However, they realized that the scoliosis continued to progress. It was then decided to change the treatment and perform surgery.

Ju Anne is recovering from her first surgery, after struggling with a diagnosis where her mother, Areli, had been told that her little girl might never be able to walk or speak.

Currently, Ju Anne really enjoys singing and mentioned that when she grows up she wants to be a hairdresser.
