Bringing over 25 years of healthcare experience to the region’s only pediatric orthopedic hospital, David Muns, MPH, FACHE, has joined Shriners Children’s Greenville.

Muns’ previous roles spanned across nonprofit acute care systems, specialty cancer networks and community medical facilities. Most recently, he served as interim assistant administrator at Sutter Health System in Burlingame, California.

“Dave’s unique professional journey includes roles as a chief operating officer, healthcare consultant and undergraduate instructor,” said Gidget Ruscetta, east region administrator, Shriners Children’s. “He is a retired U.S. Air Force medic, and his diverse background gives him a deep understanding of healthcare operations at every level.”

Recognized for possessing a strong foundation in bedside care, Muns is noted for establishing a proven track record of strengthening clinical service lines, improving patient access and mentoring healthcare leaders.

“Front-line team development will be an important priority, and I will work to ensure that everyone has the tools they need to succeed,” said Muns. “My leadership philosophy aligns well with that of Shriners Children’s, which is to place a clear, unwavering focus on patients, families and our team.”

Muns earned his Master of Public Health from the University of Southern Mississippi and is a past board chairman of the American College of Healthcare Executives – Mississippi Chapter.
