Wyoming’s top high school football players took the field one last time on Saturday, June 14 at the 52nd annual Wyoming Shrine Bowl All-Star Football Game. While this enduring Wyoming tradition maintains significance in the state’s sporting landscape as the premier showcase for its most talented graduating seniors, the Wyoming Shrine Bowl also fulfills a noble purpose that directly helps provide life-changing healthcare for children in the region.

The annual North versus South showdown is more than a football game, it is a charitable event benefiting Shriners Children’s Salt Lake City. The week kicked off with the players having an opportunity to meet with and hear from some of the patients that are being treated at Shriners Children’s. This eye-opening experience provided the participants with a better understanding of why the game is played. Additionally, the week-long festivities included an awards banquet and parade leading up to the game itself.

“The impact of the Wyoming Shrine Bowl goes far beyond the field,” said Kristin Lehman Bingham, senior director of philanthropy at Shriners Children’s Salt Lake City. “It helps us provide life-changing care to children, regardless of their families’ ability to pay or insurance status. Because of the generosity of the Wyoming Shrine Bowl community, we’re able to offer a brighter future to kids from Wyoming and beyond.”

Last year’s event raised $60,000, and organizers anticipate an even greater amount in 2025, which is an extra special year for Shriners Children’s Salt Lake City as it celebrates its 100th anniversary.

“We are so grateful to the Wyoming Shrine Bowl’s supporters, volunteers and its board of directors, many of whom are Shriners,” said Raegan Holbrook, director of marketing and communications at Shriners Children’s Salt Lake City. “The time and energy they invest in this event helps pave the way for the next century of amazing care being provided at Shriners Children’s Salt Lake City.”
