FAQ
The theme for prom this year is A Night Under the Stars! Patients in the Sacramento region ages 16-19 will receive an invitation through MyChart. If you received an invitation, sign up using the registration tabs on the main page. If you have questions or didn't receive an invitation, email nclprom@shrinenet.org.
Due to limited space, we can only have a certain number of guests attend this event. If you are on the wait list, we will contact you if you make it off the wait list with further information.
Formal attire is required for the event. We will have both dresses and suits available for no cost to use during prom and to keep after the event. We cannot guarantee style and size, so we suggest bringing a backup outfit just in case.
Every patient will get a plus-one for the event. All prom guests must also complete the registration information and the photo consent before arriving. Please note that prom plus-one guests should be between the ages of 16-19. If the patient does not have someone within that age range to attend prom with them, a parent or guardian can be the plus-one during the event.
No worries, there will be plenty of friends to hang out with throughout the night.
Food and drink will be provided during the event at no cost. We will have allergy-friendly foods and will take into consideration any dietary needs. Please fill out your paperwork so we can accommodate any restrictions or needs.
If you plan to park and stay at the event, you will be able to park in the Shriners Children’s parking garage. There will be a security checkpoint at the entrance of the parking garage. If you would like to drop off the attendee, you can do so at the front entrance under the breezeway by the parking garage. Access to the front parking circle will be closed off.
We kindly ask everyone under the age of 18 attending the event to consent to media before entering. If the patient or plus-one guest is over the age of 18, they can consent to media at the check-in station before entering or complete it online.
We are unable to provide lodging and transportation accommodations for prom participants and guardians before, during or after the event.
Parents and Guardians
Parents and guardians are more than welcome to stay during the event. We will have a specific “Parent/Guardian” waiting area with light snacks and refreshments at no extra cost. Parents will not be allowed into the main area of the event unless they are the designated plus-one or in case of an emergency. At 5:30 p.m., each prom attendee will have the opportunity to walk the red carpet with their guest. Parents will be encouraged to line the red carpet and take photographs if they would like.
Guardians can leave and come back during the event, but prom attendees will not be able to leave and come back during the event. If guardians choose to leave and explore the city of Sacramento, there is a “Things to do” page in this flyer.
Guardians can drop off the prom attendee at the specific drop-off location located at the front entrance of the hospital, under the breezeway.
Before entering the event, our check-in process will ensure that all attendees have an emergency contact number listed. In case of an emergency or if the prom attendee would like to leave, a staff member will call the emergency contact. Prom guests under the age of 18 will not be allowed to leave on their own without the physical presence of a guardian to check them out of the event.
