Steven Blackwell, M.D., earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1971. Thereafter, he served four years as a resident in general surgery at the University of Cincinnati and then completed the plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in 1978. He then further pursued a craniofacial fellowship at the Australian Craniofacial Unit, Adelaide, South Australia. Dr. Blackwell served as professor of plastic surgery at UTMB until his retirement from there in 2009, but he has continued to lead the cleft lip and palate program at Shriners Children's Texas, including the Cronin and Brauer Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic where we see our outpatients.
