The Most Amazing Care Anywhere

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California Launches Campaign to Reach Children in Need of Specialty Pediatric Care

Today Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California launched a new campaign titled The Most Amazing Care Anywhere in parts of California and Nevada, featuring real stories and experiences from patients. The campaign will run through August 2021 and aims to inform families about the award-winning, specialized pediatric care available at the Northern California Shriners Hospital in Sacramento. Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California was recently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the 2020-2021 Best Hospitals in the country for pediatric orthopaedics and urology, in conjunction with UC Davis Children’s Hospital. It is common for patients from out-of-state and outside the U.S. to receive care at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California.

“We are extremely proud of what we do,” said Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California Administrator and CEO Margaret Bryan. “Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California has treated more than 80,000 children since we opened in Sacramento in 1997, and doctors refer more than 7,000 new patients to us for care each year. With this campaign we hope to expand awareness about Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California as a medical destination of choice for specialized pediatric care.”

The campaign features inspirational stories from patients who traveled from across California and neighboring states for the Northern California Shriners Hospital staff’s specialty pediatric care. The care of the staff at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California was integral to each patient’s development and self-confidence.

Notably, the campaign aims to raise awareness about three of Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California’s nationally-recognized pediatric sub-specialty programs: pediatric burn care, pediatric surgery and pediatric spine care.

“Parents choose Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California because our doctors are some of the most skilled and innovative pediatric specialists in the world,” said Bryan. “They devote everything – their knowledge, their extensive experience and entire careers – to treating children. We hope this campaign will help bring Shriners Hospitals for Children’s life-changing care to more children who need it.”

Providing care without barriers remains an important part of the Shriners Hospitals for Children mission. Patients are accepted regardless of insurance coverage, nor is it required for care. Given the economic changes brought on by the pandemic, Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California continues to re-emphasize its commitment to accept any patient who qualifies for care, regardless of a family’s ability to pay.

The Northern California Shriners Hospital is also home to the Institute of Pediatric Regenerative Medicine (IPRM), and is a distinguished teaching and research facility. It is a local and statewide leader in innovative treatments for a number of pediatric subspecialties.

The campaign is comprised of radio and television spots, as well as digital and social media ads that will air in the Sacramento/Stockton/Modesto, Solano, California, and Reno, Nevada, markets. The Most Amazing Care Anywhere campaign in the western U.S. is part of a larger, nationwide campaign running on behalf of the greater Shriners Hospitals for Children system.

Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California patients featured in The Most Amazing Care Anywhere advertisements include:

  • Ayden, a 10-year-old pediatric burn patient who recovered thanks to the quick thinking of four off-duty firefighters;
  • Baylee, an 11-year-old girl excelling in gymnastics after a vertebral body tethering procedure corrected her scoliosis;
  • Bella, Beka, and Bayley, three sisters who have all received care at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California for limb differences;
  • Hunter, an 11-year-old boy managing a rare genetic brittle bone disorder and thriving after highly-specialized scoliosis care;
  • Jordyn, a 7-year-old girl whose life was saved at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California after receiving care for a serious bowel condition;
  • Maren, an 8-year-old girl, cancer survivor and patient in the spinal cord injury program;
  • Mathew, a 14-year-old boy who has been a pediatric colorectal center patient for four years; and
  • Zachary, an 18-year-old who underwent chest wall reconstruction surgery and now dreams of joining the Army Rangers.

“Shriners [Hospitals] is a very special place,” said Melissa, whose daughter Baylee is featured in the campaign and underwent vertebral body tethering surgery to correct her scoliosis. “The doctors are amazing, and they really understand kids. Like any other mom, I want Baylee to have the same opportunities as every other kid. If she wants to do gymnastics, I want her to be able to do that.”
