Corporate Council Provides $100K Grant for Motion Analysis Center

The motion analysis center at the Lexington Shriners Medical Center recently received at $100,000 grant to assist with its budget needs for the year. The medical center’s Corporate Council, a group of 46 Lexington area business leaders, announced the grant in late June.

“We are thrilled to provide this grant for the motion analysis center,” said Corporate Council Chair Kevin Bazner, chief executive officer, A & W Restaurants, Inc. “This lab is essential to helping the physicians at Shriners [Medical Center] help children improve the way they walk. As the chair of this community council, I have seen first-hand the dedication and passion the members of the Shriners team has for the children in their care. Their priorities are always about what is best for the children – and that’s what has kept me involved these past five years.”

Members of the Corporate Council, who each contribute a minimum of $2,500 annually, enjoy a distinctive relationship with the Lexington Shriners Medical Center, partnering with medical center administrators, physicians, health care professionals and other corporate leaders. The Corporate Council supports programs and services that change children’s lives. The group gives business leaders the opportunity to help advance children’s health care. The Shriners Medical Center in Lexington benefits from a continuous stream of information and input provided by its members.

Since its formation in 2015, the corporate council has provided nearly $1 million in grants to the medical center, funding much-needed medical projects such as the EOS imaging system (Kentucky’s only low-radiation 3-D imaging for pediatrics) and the motion analysis center. In addition to funding numerous medically-related projects and equipment, the council has also funded some fun things for patients such as the new therapeutic and medical assessment playground, which was dedicated last fall.

Leading members of the Lexington corporate community and their involvement are essential to the Shriners Medical Center, but those members also feel that supporting the facility – and its patients and staff – is an important part of being leaders in the city.

“It is a great honor to work with such a dedicated group of local business leaders providing support and funding for the Lexington Shriners team’s initiatives,” said Bazner. “This group of leaders is always focused on what is best for the children that Shriners [Medical Center] serves. Being affiliated with this Corporate Council and the dedicated staff of Lexington Shriners has been one of the most rewarding experiences for me both personally and professionally.”
