Patient Programs

Our Care Extends Beyond Our Walls

At Shriners Children's Greenville, our team is committed to caring for the overall health and well-being of our patients. This includes their minds as well as their bodies. In that spirit, we offer a wide variety of programs and camps.

Our extensive patient programs give children the opportunity to participate in activities they enjoy, to brighten their stay, and camps that can help them return to their communities as active, confident and productive citizens.

Shriners Children's partners with a number of community organizations to provide opportunities for children to explore and grow their overall potential inside and outside of the hospital. Your nurse or care coordinator can direct you to opportunities in the community.

Programs

Bear Den

Each surgical patient is treated with a trip to the hospital's Bear Den. There, the child will select their own special friend — and an outfit for their bear. This fun highlight is a welcome distraction for patients.

Critter Keeper

One of several special guest appearances arranged by our child life therapists throughout the year, the Critter Keeper's collection of lovable creatures brings thrills and cheers.

Therapeutic Recreation and Child Life

Our child life team is dedicated to caring for the emotional well-being of each patient. From providing tours to families of the hospital prior to surgery to arranging fun seasonal visits by the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus, our child life specialists bring comfort and entertainment to patients.

Pet Therapy

Physicians aren't the only ones who "make the rounds" at Shriners Children's Greenville. Pet therapy dogs also enjoy regular visits with patients. The goal of the pet therapy program is to reduce pain, anxiety and depression. Learn more about our Pet Therapy Program.

We’re always here for our patients, regardless of a family's ability to pay or insurance status
