Ryan W. Carroll, M.D., MPH, specializes in pediatric critical care at Shriners Children’s Boston. He is on faculty with the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Mass General Brigham for Children and is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Carroll is the Director of Global Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Mass General Brigham and co-director of the Harvard Medical School course, Translational Biomedical Engineering.
At the Mass General Brigham Anesthesia Center for Critical Care Research, Dr. Carroll has cultivated translational research interests, including exploring the pathophysiology of cerebral malaria and building capacity in low-resource settings. More recently, he has led several efforts to address respiratory failure in children.
Dr. Carroll has played a role in several innovation efforts leading to granted patents and licensing agreements. As a reflection of this success, he serves as the Innovation Champion for pediatrics throughout the Mass General Brigham ecosystem. Dr. Carroll is a principal investigator or co-investigator for multiple translational research projects, and a co-author of over 60 peer-reviewed publications.
