Garret Zallen, M.D., has been a pediatric surgeon for 18 years now and has no difficulty to remembering why he chose this path in life. He is reminded of the reason for his choice daily by the children and the families that he interacts with and the lives he helps make better. He cannot think of a better career than one that helps make the future of our children better and our world brighter. He has been working at Shriners Children's Portland for his entire career because he shares the mission to provide the highest quality care to children within a compassionate, family-centered, collaborative environment.
Dr. Zallen always had a keen interest in taking care of children with chest wall abnormalities, so he became the director of the chest wall abnormality program at Shriners Children's Portland. Since then, Dr. Zallen has cared for thousands of children with chest wall abnormalities and has become a regional expert in the surgical and non-surgical care of these children.
