Laura Rosenberg, Ph.D., was born in Barre, Vermont, and moved to South Texas as a child. At a young age she realized the importance of helping others, values instilled by her parents, and became interested in pursuing a career in a helping profession. She obtained her BA in psychology and speech therapy and her MA in general psychology from Texas A&M University–Kingsville. She later earned her doctorate in counseling psychology and an MS in communicative disorders from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She completed her psychology internship through the APA-accredited program at UTMB and her postdoctoral fellowship at Shriners Children’s Texas, specializing in pediatric burn care.
Dr. Rosenberg enjoys working with people across the lifespan and has experience with children, adolescents and adults in various settings. She speaks Spanish fluently and has worked as a bilingual psychologist in pediatric burn care for 28 years, helping children and families during challenging moments in their lives. Her specialty areas include psychosocial and emotional recovery from pediatric burns, pain and anxiety reduction, grief and trauma treatment, crisis intervention, school and community reintegration, and culturally responsive care. She has been involved in clinical research, presented nationally and internationally, published in the field, and serves as a peer reviewer.
Dr. Rosenberg is active in training students. She is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry-Behavioral Sciences at UTMB. She is a member of APA, ABA and ASHA, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She enjoys traveling, learning about different cultures, theater, ballet and museums.
