John Clohisy, M.D., is a nationally-recognized orthopedic surgeon who has spent more than 20 years helping young people move better, feel better and get back to doing the things they love.
Dr. Clohisy focuses his entire medical practice on treating hip conditions — it’s what he does every single day. He cares for adolescents, young adults and athletes with hip issues like hip dysplasia and femoroacetabular impingement, working closely with each family to find the right path forward, whether that means surgery or another solution.
If surgery is needed, your child is in experienced hands. Dr. Clohisy has performed more than 9,600 hip surgeries, including:
- Over 5,900 hip replacements (even in very young patients)
- More than 2,200 procedures for hip impingement
- Over 1,500 specialized surgeries for hip dysplasia (called periacetabular osteotomies)
He is also a leader in modern hip replacement techniques, including the anterior approach, which can offer a quicker recovery for some patients.
Beyond the operating room, Dr. Clohisy is a passionate researcher, teacher and advocate for better care. He has written more than 380 scientific papers to help improve treatments for young people with hip conditions. He also leads the ANCHOR Study Group, a national research team focused on understanding how to best care for hips at an early stage – before long-term problems develop.
What families appreciate most, though, isn’t just Dr. Clohisy’s skill – it’s his kind, thoughtful approach. He takes time to explain everything clearly, answer your questions and make sure you feel supported through every step of your child’s care.
With Dr. Clohisy, your child’s hips – and your family – are in good hands.
