A Hospital Designed for Children and Families
At Shriners Hospitals for Children – Northern California, care is
delivered in a hospital designed specifically to serve the
medical and emotional needs of children and their families. Care
takes place in a facility filled with natural light. The open
environment facilitates interaction among patients, parents and
families and provides a friendly face to a state-of-the-art
pediatric medical center built to deliver life-saving,
life-changing care for generations to come.
Parent Accommodations
Staying overnight at the hospital can ease your child’s concerns.
One adult family member may stay at the hospital during your
child’s hospitalization. A chair, bed or rollaway may be placed
in your child’s room. The person rooming at the hospital must be
in good health and able to care for him/herself. Our care
team also works with families to secure overnight accommodations
at the Ronald McDonald House or nearby hotels.
Hospital Cafe
Family members are asked to provide their own meals during their
stay. The Hospital Cafe, located on the 2nd floor, serves
breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, including weekends. There also
are vending machines in the 2nd floor Cafe.
Library Services
For many patients and families, the hospital experience is
enriched by access to books, movies and other
information. If you would like to schedule time to enjoy the
hospital library, please contact your care coordinator.
Interpretation Services
Interpreter services are available upon request and free
of charge. We offer both in person and digital interpreter
services, 24/7.
Pet Therapy
A host of dogs, cats and bunnies registered as Shriners Hospital
Pet Therapy volunteers provide comfort and affection to
all. Contact Volunteer Services to see if there are furry
friends in the hospital today ready to pay a visit.

Sacramento City Unified School District, the on-site public
school provides bilingual education for preschool through 12th
