AmazonSmile Donations Now Enabled on Phone Purchases

Since its launch in October 2013, millions of customers have signed up for AmazonSmile to support their favorite charities. Fans of Shriners Hospitals for Children have been faithfully supporting its important care for children with orthopaedic conditions just by doing their regular Amazon Shopping at smile.amazon.com.

When Amazon customers select Shriners Hospitals for Children as their AmazonSmile charity of choice while shopping at smile.amazon.com, Amazon donates .5% of the eligible purchasesto Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Now, in a long awaited update, supporters can help direct even more funds toward Shriners Hospitals for Children every time they shop with Amazon on their iPhone and Android phone. A three-step opt-in process requires users to turn on push notifications from the app to enable phone purchases.

This new donation opportunity will no doubt lead to even more much-needed resources during these critical times of battling the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, $192K has been donated to Shriners Hospitals for Children through the AmazonSmile program.

To designate Shriners Hospitals for Children as the automatic beneficiary of your Amazon purchases, follow these simple steps:

1. Go to smile.amazon.com.
2. Log into your existing account or create your own account.
3. Purchase items.
4. Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the charitable organization of your choice. (This donation relates to most Amazon products, not other third party products, and cannot be used with items that Shriners Hospitals for Children has contracts with.)
5. Select your charity of choice to be Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Every little bit adds up. To date, Amazon has donated $183 million toward their customers’ charities of choice. Donations go a long way toward carrying out the mission at Shriners Hospitals for Children, where life-changing care is provided to children with orthopaedic conditions regardless of the family's ability to pay.
