New Administrator Appointed at Massachusetts-based Shriners Children’s Locations

Frances Marthone, Ph.D., RN, has been named the new administrator for Shriners Children’s Boston and Shriners Children’s New England in Springfield, Massachusetts. Marthone previously served as the director of patient care services at Shriners Children’s New England. She replaces H. Lee Kirk who retired from Shriners Children’s New England in January 2022 and Eileen Skinner, who retired from Shriners Children’s Boston in March 2021. Corporate Administrator Andrew Graul provided interim leadership.

Prior to working at Shriners Children’s, Marthone served as regional manager of quality for Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer, Massachusetts. Before that, she was the vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer for Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Marthone is looking forward to leading the way into the future of healthcare at the two Massachusetts-based locations. "I am thrilled for the opportunity to work in this new role as administrator for both Shriners Children’s locations in Massachusetts. I believe there is great opportunity to maximize synergies across the state to live our vision of providing care to more kids in more places,” Marthone added.

Shriners Children’s Boston provides specialized pediatric burn care, reconstructive plastic surgery, and cleft lip and palate care.

Shriners Children’s New England provides specialized pediatric orthopedic, urology, and cleft lip and palate care, with expanded services including fracture care, and sports health and medicine.
