Ralph Green, M.D., Ph.D., FRCPath, is the Medical Director of the Clinical Laboratory at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Northern California.

Full Biography

Ralph Green, M.D., Ph.D., FRCPath  is a clinical pathologist, with particular interest in diseases of the blood.

Dr. Green is internationally recognized for his research, which focuses on studying how deprivation or metabolic disruption of B-complex vitamins, iron and other nutritional elements affects the blood, cardiovascular system, nervous system, and the aging process.

He has studied the role of nutrient deficiencies in dementia, coronary artery disease, and stroke, as well as other chronic degenerative diseases, including cancer. He has a strong interest in graduate pathology education and was elected to serve on the Council of the Association of Pathology Chairs, chairing the Graduate Medical Education Committee for two terms. He has served as an adviser to numerous Governmental and International Agencies including the National Institutes of Health , U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control, and American Heart Association. He served on an expert panel appointed by the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences to recommend levels of daily intake for B-vitamins and serves as a consultant to the World Health Organization. Dr Green is on the editorial boards of several scientific journals.
