Family Support
As your child recovers and learns new skills, you will have the

stay during the child’s hospitalization to support the teaching

works with families who may need overnight accommodations nearby.
Going Home
At Shriners Hospitals for Children — Northern California, our
goal is to help your child adapt and return to functioning
independently in their environment. After discharge, some
patients may benefit from our innovative Intensive Outpatient
Therapy Program (IOTP) that provides full or partial days working
with the multidisciplinary team without having to stay overnight
in the hospital.
For all patients, our team will continue to provide outpatient,
follow-up care to your child until the age of 18. We can serve as
a resource for your child’s primary care provider and other
specialists in your home community, no matter where you live.
Follow-up appointments are available via telehealth when
possible.
