Stefanie Fischer, M.D., grew up in Germany and attained her medical degree from Heidelberg University Medical School. After completing a residency program in internal medicine at Oregon Health Sciences University, she returned to Germany where she enrolled in the anesthesiology and critical care residency program at the Westfaelische Wilhelms Universitaet in Muenster. For the research portion of that training, she came to Galveston for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Investigational Intensive Care Unit at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). Thereafter she completed her anesthesiology residency at UTMB. Dr. Fischer joined the faculty at UTMB in 2001 and is currently an associate professor of anesthesiology at UTMB.
