Sara Payne-Poff, M.D., grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She attended medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. She then moved to Norfolk, Virginia to complete a residency in pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters (associated with the Eastern Virginia Medical School). After completing a year as a chief resident, she moved on to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for her fellowship in pediatric rheumatology. Dr. Payne-Poff then returned to the southeast where she lives with her husband in Greenville, South Carolina.
