After two years as an engineer, he went to the military medical school and trained at Walter Reed. He completed a spine fellowship in Minnesota and returned to Walter Reed where he was chief of spine surgery and then chair of orthopedic surgery. He retired from the Army and returned to Minnesota as the chief of spine surgery at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Polly has extensive experience treating children with spinal differences and has been seeing patients at Shriners Children's Twin Cities. He says taking care of children is the best part of his practice.
