Badges ranking Shriners the Best Childrens Hospital for Orthopedics and Urology

SACRAMENTO, Calif— Shriners Hospitals for Children – Northern California was recently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the 2020-2021 best hospitals in the country for pediatric orthopaedics and urology. Shriners Hospitals for Children – Northern California was recognized for both specialties in conjunction with UC Davis Children’s Hospital.

This is the ninth consecutive year Shriners Hospitals for Children – Northern California has received this recognition for orthopaedics. It is the seventh consecutive year the hospitals have received this recognition for urology.

“We are proud to be nationally-recognized year after year for our pediatric orthopaedic and pediatric urology care,” says Margaret Bryan, administrator and CEO at the Northern California Shriners Hospital. “We pride ourselves on providing excellent pediatric specialty care, alongside important medical research and medical education.”

U.S. News & World Report publishes rankings of U.S. hospitals and specialty care areas to help patients make informed decisions on where to seek care. Data from nearly 5,000 hospitals in 16 adult medical specialties, 9 adult procedures or conditions, and 10 pediatric specialties are assessed.

Pediatric specialty rankings are made according to a combination of clinical data, including mortality rates and patient outcomes, and expert-opinion surveys of specialized physicians. According to the U.S. News & World Report website, pediatric specialists and subspecialists are asked to name up to 10 hospitals in their specialty where they would send the sickest patients without taking location or expense into account.
